The New York Shipping Association (NYSA) will be hosting the Freight Academy at their state-of-the-art training center for a full day of classroom sessions and field visits. NYSA is a premier professional organization in the maritime industry with a mission to “represent the interests of its members in maximizing the efficiency, cost competitiveness, safety and quality of marine cargo operations in the Port of New York and New Jersey.” Additional information about NYSA can be found here: http://www.nysanet.org/. Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, will host participants on Friday of the Freight Academy Immersion Week. EWR is the overnight small package center for the NY/NJ region and has 1.3 million square feet dedicated to cargo service. In 2006 EWR moved 979,271 tons of air cargo and 95,958 tons of air mail.
